My Brother Your Sister
Most of Kitchener's calypsos are fairly easy to find these days, due in part to his enduring popularity—and a good set of reissue CDs. But Kitch was so prolific that some of his best songs have fallen between the cracks anyway. This irresistible tune, for instance, remains fairly obscure in spite of some great lyrics. The version heard here captures the excitement of a Carnival jam at a rum shop, with Relator and Paquito taking it all the way to Las' Lap.[1]
Footnotes
1 - Las' Lap is the final street party late on Carnival Tuesday night, with tired celebrants stumbling through the streets, intoxicated and happy, as another Carnival slips away into history.
How does a family start
Who knows this wonderful art
Well who doh know it
Ah goh let dem in de secret
If you want to hear
Darlin' cock yuh ear
(CHORUS)
Is my brother get talkin' to your sister, oh Gorm
Your sister get talkin' to my brother
Dey kiss, dey twis', dey romp, an' play
Good time yuh look, big family dey
One night ah walk through the park
Two folks kissin' in de dark

Ah didn't want to know dey business
So ah had meh walk

(CHORUS)
Now if yuh sister run away
Doh fret, she just gone to play
Around the corner

Only havin' fun
When all said and done
(CHORUS)
